FAQ

Questions, answered.

What is Outlaya?

Outlaya is an AI cost management platform for teams. Your providers show you the total; Outlaya shows you what it bought — by customer, by feature, by team, and down to the pull request. That comes from three pieces working together: Cost Attribution, Coding ROI, and Unified Billing, none of which sit in the path of a request.

How do I get started?

Start free — no card required. Then choose where to start: add the Python or TypeScript SDK for Cost Attribution, connect GitHub for Coding ROI, or add a provider admin key for Unified Billing. All three run in the same workspace, and pricing scales with the spend you track — not per seat.

Does Outlaya keep the text I send to and receive from my models?

Not unless you switch it on. We persist usage data only — how many tokens, which engine, how long each call took, and the labels behind your Cost Attribution. Message bodies themselves are never retained unless you enable it, and when enabled they cover a subset rather than every request, strip sensitive fields, and are protected with encryption.

Is Outlaya meant for one person or a whole group?

Made for groups. Everyone works in a single shared space rather than private accounts: hook up your suppliers once, add colleagues, and track expenses side by side, with permissions controlling who may attach new sources or adjust payments. Growth seats 3, Pro seats 10, and Enterprise has no cap.

Why not simply rely on the console each supplier already gives me?

Each supplier's console reports its own invoice, sorted by that supplier's own labels. It has no view of the rest of your stack, can't bucket charges by the account or capability that generated them, and can't price an individual merged change. We handle all of it — Cost Attribution by whatever slices you pick, Coding ROI for each shipped change, and Unified Billing over the whole stack.

Does instrumenting my app add overhead to live traffic?

It doesn't. Traffic flows directly to your supplier; we sit beside the connection, never inside it. Our instrumentation reports back once a reply has completed, which costs far less than 10ms on ordinary calls and less than 5ms before the first chunk arrives on streamed ones.

Can I be warned about runaway usage before the statement lands?

Yes. Pick a per-day ceiling, a surge watcher measured against the prior day, or a per-month ceiling. Notices land in Slack, email, or Discord moments after a limit is crossed rather than weeks later, and Pro layers on month-end projections so you can anticipate the next statement.

Which vendors can Outlaya pull numbers from?

OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenRouter, and Cursor — the very names shown near the top of this page. Unified Billing merges all of them into one figure, and fresh integrations ship often.
